Commanders of the Empire
Nine commanders stand ready to serve your empire. Some can be earned. Some must be claimed. A few — only the mightiest governors will ever command.
Chapter I
Before your empire had walls. Before your armies had numbers. These three commanders arrived at your gates and chose to stay. They join every governor — free — in the earliest days of their reign.
Northern Provinces
The Iron Fist
A former imperial guard captain who rose through the ranks on pure discipline and ferocity. Wei Jian has never lost a wall he was ordered to defend. His soldiers don't follow him out of loyalty — they follow him out of fear of letting him down. He arrived before dawn and simply said: "Tell me where you need the wall held."
Eastern Steppes
Storm Rider
Born on horseback on the eastern plains, Rui Feng could ride before he could walk. He joined after his clan was destroyed — riding three days without stopping. He named his horse after his home village. He has never spoken the name aloud since the day it burned.
Jade Forest Region
The Silent Arrow
Recruited after stopping an assassination attempt with one arrow fired in complete darkness at seventy paces. When asked how she made the shot she said only: "I listened." Nobody knows much about her past. She has made it very clear she prefers it that way.
Chapter II
Not every hero is born to legend. Some are forged through loyalty, quiet dedication and a willingness to fight for something worth protecting. Earn these commanders through daily service to your empire.
Southern Trade Routes
The Jade Blade
Grew up on the southern trade routes where survival meant being faster than trouble. Never the biggest fighter — he learned to be the most precise instead. Two short swords moving faster than most men can follow with their eyes. He arrived looking for honest work. The governor gave him the eastern gate. He has not left it unmanned since.
Northern Plains
The Amber Rider
Bao Shi inherited his horse from his father who inherited it from his father. The horse is older than anyone remembers and faster than horses half its age. Bao Shi calls him Old Thunder. Old Thunder has never thrown a rider. Never refused a charge. Bao Shi fights because Old Thunder deserves a rider worth carrying.
Eastern Jade Forest
The Jade Wind
The jade winds blow through the eastern forests every spring — warm, swift and impossible to hold. Fa Ping says she learned to listen to them. She learned to track before she learned to read. She found the settlement by following the smoke from the forges — curious about what was being built. She stayed because she decided it was worth protecting.
Chapter III
These commanders are not earned through patience alone. Some require months of dedication. Some require resources that only the most powerful governors command. All of them are worth every sacrifice made to claim them.
Imperial Capital — Unknown
The Emperor's Blade
Nobody knows where Xue Bao came from. He appeared at the imperial palace gates with a letter sealed by a previous emperor — a letter nobody alive had seen written. It said only: "When the empire needs saving — he will come." He has served every governor who proved worthy of the throne. His blade has never been drawn in anger. Only in absolute certainty.
Western Mountain Passes
The Thunder Lance
Cavalry was thought impossible in the mountain passes of the west. Bao Chen proved everyone wrong — training his cavalry to charge downhill at angles no enemy anticipated. Forty engagements. Forty victories. His thunder lance has never missed its intended target. He says the mountains taught him one thing: the terrain is never the obstacle. Fear is.
Ancient Imperial Phoenix Guard
The Silver Phoenix
Her family has served the imperial throne for eleven generations. She is the last of her line. She carries a scroll with eleven names — one for each generation before her. She reads it before every battle. She has never missed a shot. Not once. Not ever. Not in training. Not in battle. Not in the dark. "I do not aim at the target. I aim at where the target will be."
